  • The Experience
    • o Since the whole notion of computing was relatively new, individuals like Liza had to depend on individuals around her to help work out problems and learn from each other
    • Formal and Informal Education
      • o The use of common lecture by a teacher coupled with the informal form of education of learning and computing on ones own, helping deductive reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills was prominent in the 1970’s

  • The Experience
    • o At the click of a button, we can have the answer at our finger tips
    • o With the modern generation, computers and the internet are an integral part of todays world, we wouldn’t be able to operate without it
      • § Question to the class: “If I gave you a street address who would be able to find there way using a Thomas guide and not Google Maps?”
      • Formal OR Informal Education
        • o Good teachers today are able to use Formal and Informal Education to help students grow in their learning with professor and student
        • o However, some teachers are not able to use both Formal and Informal
          • § Rather they lean towards heavy lecturing (Formal)
            • “We have all had that teacher that drones on for countless hours in your 8AM class”
          • § Or the computing only (Informal)
            • “The teacher that you do not even have to show up to class because everything is online”
  • o A balance is necessary
